Surrealism
The surrealist movement started in Paris by a small group of of artist who wished to channel the unconscious as a means to unlock the power of the imagination. Influenced by the new field of psychology, Surrealist shunned rationalism and realism. Influenced by the works of Karl Marx, Surrealist wanted to contradict the ideas of the everyday world and spur revolution. Putting emphasis on imagination, they believed that revelations could be found in everyday life. Becoming prominent between the World Wards, it wanted to achieve subconscious creativity.
